Sustainability & ESG

Sustainability & ESG commitment

Responsible exploration, written for the country we work in — not adapted from somewhere else.

Specific to the Namibian context

Responsible exploration is local work

GeoMine operates within a clear commitment to responsible exploration and mineral development.

Our ESG approach is specific to the Namibian context — water-scarce arid terrain, community engagement across long distances, compliance with the Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism (MEFT) regulatory framework, and transparent stakeholder communication throughout every project phase.

These are not add-ons at the end of a programme. They shape how a campaign is designed, where a rig is placed and what is left behind when the licence area is handed back.

In practice

Four things we get right first

01

Water stewardship

In arid terrain, water use is the first question a community and a regulator will ask. We plan drilling water supply, containment and reporting before mobilisation, not after.

02

Community engagement

Engagement frameworks built for remote areas: early contact with traditional authorities and farm holders, clear grievance channels, and communication that continues between field seasons.

03

Environmental compliance

Environmental baseline studies and clearance under the MEFT framework, handled by people who deal with the same offices and the same requirements every week.

04

Closure planning

Rehabilitation and closure treated as a design input from the first field season — sump siting, track routing and drill pad rehabilitation planned to be reversible.

Namibian talent

Not a corporate responsibility footnote.

Investing in and empowering Namibian geoscientists is the firm's founding purpose. Building the country's next generation of exploration professionals is integral to every engagement we undertake.

That means graduates on real programmes, field assistants trained to logging and QA/QC standard, and technical mentorship that continues after the drill rig leaves.

We do not merely work in Namibia. We are part of Namibia's mining future.
